Governors Island, NY

In the New York Harbor lies a small piece of land called Governors Island. It is located very closely to Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn (800 yards and 400 yards, respectfully). By ferry, you can be at the island in 15 minutes.

Governors Island has a rich history dating back to Colonial times, but most New Yorkers know it as a destination for outdoor music fest Gov Ball.

Mainly used as a military base throughout the years, many of the structures still stand today.

On a very hot day in May, I ventured out to Governors Island to explore and snap a few photos along the way.
